About
District Market Green Grocer opened as Houston’s first Black-owned supermarket, founded by Robert Thomas at 3337 Cypress Creek Pkwy. The store carries fresh produce, juices, and prepared foods alongside organic and vegan options for health-conscious shoppers. In addition, more than 40 Black-owned local vendors sell their products on District Market’s shelves. That vendor network gives smaller Black-owned brands retail shelf space they might not otherwise reach. As a result, the store functions as both a full-service grocery and a launchpad for local entrepreneurs. Meanwhile, shoppers can visit Tuesday through Saturday from 10am to 8pm. For Houston’s Black business community, District Market represents a rare full-scale grocery success story built specifically to support other Black-owned brands.
