How I Lost 85+ Lbs: My Top 3 Budget “Cloud” Shoes for High-Mileage Walks

I have undergone a huge transformation over the last two years and lost over 85 pounds. People always ask me what the secret was and honestly it has been consistency. Walking has been the most vital part of my success and I still hit a minimum of 5 miles almost every single day.

My daily workout is pretty intense because I usually wear a weighted vest and push Storm in his jogging stroller. Logging 35 or more miles a week with that extra weight means my feet take a serious beating. I need that “walking on a cloud” feeling to protect my joints but I burn through shoes so fast. I have had to find high-performance options that do not cost $160 or more.

Here are the three pairs that actually handle my high-intensity training on a budget.

1. The Ultimate Hoka Dupe: Nortiv 8 Women’s MovePropel

If you want that thick and chunky Hoka style sole these are the winners. They feature a high-elastic midsole designed to absorb the extra impact from the weighted vest. This is a lifesaver when you are adding so much resistance to your stride. They also have reflective strips which are great for early morning workouts.

A high-intensity Hoka dupe that handles the extra weight of my vest and stroller workouts without the $160 price tag.

2. My Personal Favorite: Skechers Max Cushioning Endeavour

I personally own and love this shoe. The comfort level is incredible and feels very similar to more expensive brands. It uses special rocker technology to help propel your foot forward. This actually helps reduce leg fatigue when you are pushing that extra stroller weight and wearing a vest.

My personal favorite for 5-mile days because the rocker design and plush insole keep my legs from feeling heavy.

3. The Under-$30 Superstar: Avia Comfort Performance

If you are on a super tight budget these are a total mom-hack. For an unbeatable price they offer a thick and lightweight midsole with a clean look. While they are a bit firmer than the others they have a visible air window in the heel for extra shock absorption.

The ultimate under-$30 mom-hack for staying consistent with my goals while running errands or hitting my daily miles.

Keeping the Weight Off on a Budget

Since I am usually tracking my stats on my Apple Watch I need my gear to be reliable. These budget-friendly picks allow me to save my money for other things I love like more Ninja gadgets for the kitchen or the travel gear that makes life with a toddler easier.

When you are walking this many miles a week you will go through shoes quickly. Finding these affordable alternatives has made it so much easier to stay consistent with my goals. I will definitely report back once I hit the 100-mile mark in these.
