We’re Getting Back to the Library This Summer (And Here’s Why You Should Too)

So I wrote this post yesterday and just… never posted it. #momlife BUT we did actually make it to the Fairburn Library for Bill Packard “The Magic Man” and y’all, Storm came face to face with a T-Rex and I have the evidence. Keep scrolling for everything still happening at your local Fulton County Library branch this week.

Storm and I used to be at the library all the time. However, since we moved to this side of town, we honestly fell off. That changes this summer. Between the Summer Reading Program, story times, free classes, and community events happening at branches all across South Fulton, there is no reason to stay home.

In fact, I put together this little video of Storm at storytime because moments like this are exactly why I want to make the library part of our routine again.

We Showed Up: Bill Packard “The Magic Man” at Fairburn

We made it out to the Fairburn Branch on June 10th for Bill Packard “The Magic Man” and Storm was NOT ready for that dinosaur. The kids’ area at Fairburn is so colorful and welcoming, you can see why this library has been a community staple since 1969. If you have never taken your little one, this summer is the perfect excuse.

The Fairburn Library Has Been Here Since 1969

Before we get into all the events, let me give the Fairburn Branch its flowers. The Fairburn Library has been serving this community since 1969, making it the oldest standing library in the Fulton County Library System. That is not a small thing. While other institutions have come and gone, this library has stayed rooted right here. It has a newly renovated interior, public spaces for adults, teens, and kids, and a warm, homegrown atmosphere that matches the community around it. If you have never been, this summer is a great time to go.

The Summer Reading Program Is Live Now

All of this is happening alongside the Fulton County Library System’s Summer Reading Program, “Unearth a Story,” running June 1 through August 1. Adults, teens, and kids are all welcome. Create a Beanstack account to track your reading and earn badges throughout the summer. Learn more and register at fulcolibrary.org/SRP.

Not only is the library completely free, but it is also one of the best community resources we have in South Fulton. Therefore, whether you are looking for something fun to do with your kids, want to learn a new skill, or just need a reason to get out of the house, your local branch has something for you this summer. Storm and I will be there. Come find us.

Events are subject to change. Always confirm details with the branch before you go. Full event listings available at fulcolibrary.org.
