Looking for things to do in South Fulton in October?? Well, this month is packed. You’ve got festivals, free concerts, a kids fishing day, trunk or treat, and a few grown folks nights across Fairburn, Union City, East Point, College Park, Hapeville, and Palmetto.

Here’s the thing about the Fairburn Fall Festival. It was one of the first events I went to after we moved to this side of town. And honestly, it’s part of what made me fall in LOVE with this area. Seeing a crowd full of people who look like me, having a good, wholesome family fun time, was beautiful. So that’s where this list starts.

Fairburn Fall Festival and Parade (Oct 3)

Fairburn calls this its biggest event of the year, and it shows!! The parade kicks off at 9am, then the festival starts at 11:30am at the Frankie Arnold Stage and Courtyard.

Expect food vendors, amusement rides, games, and live performances. So bring the whole crew and come hungry.

Oct 3 is the busiest day of the month. Also, a lot of these line up well if you plan it right. Here’s everything else happening that Saturday.

Kids Fishing Lessons at CHACE Farms

Kids ages 8 to 16 can get a hands on fishing lesson, hosted by The Rangers Creative Youth Leadership Program. It runs 9am to 1pm, so you could do fishing in the morning and still catch Fall Fest after!!

Pinktober 5K Color Run

Union City’s 13th annual Pinktober run raises breast cancer awareness and honors survivors. Runners, walkers, and families of all levels can join. The race starts at 9:30am.

Uplift and Flow Workshop

This one’s for girls ages 9 to 17. The workshop covers bra fitting, menstrual health, hygiene, and self confidence in a culturally responsive way. You’ll find the sign up QR code on the flyer.

Music at the Museum

Nu Souf Collective celebrates the evolution of Black music, from spirituals to Nina Simone, Prince, and music from the film Sinners. It’s a free concert, but you’ll need to RSVP at challengethestats.org.

Family and Kid Friendly Events

Sensory Sundays at The Play Pad (Oct 4)

Autism Branches is bringing Sensory Sundays back to The Play Pad in Fairburn!! It’s built for kids ages 4 to 12 and their families. Expect snacks, painting, robots, games, pizza, and sensory lounging.

Also, it gives parents a real break. Drop the kids off, then go grab brunch or just rest.

It’s $60 per child and $40 for each additional sibling. You’ll register at autismbranches.org.

Eats and Beats at East Point Farmers Market (Every Wednesday)

Every Wednesday in October, Downtown Commons turns into a mini block party. You’ll find local vendors, live music, food trucks, educational demos, and family friendly activities.

Weekly Programs at The Play Pad (All Month)

Also, The Play Pad in Fairburn keeps something going all week long. So if you need a regular spot for the kids, here’s what they offer.

Open Play: Monday through Saturday. Kids can play, explore, and have fun in the indoor play center. Check Google for current hours.

Toddler Tuesday: Tuesdays, 10am to 12pm. This one’s for little ones 3 and under, with toddler friendly play and exploration. Just know a parent or guardian has to stay and play too. It’s not a drop off.

Morning Out Club: Monday through Friday, 9am to 1pm or 1pm to 5pm. Little ones learn, play, socialize, and build confidence.

Achiever’s Hub: Monday through Friday, 2:30 to 6:30pm. Think homework help, reading, STEAM activities, and character building after school. Plus, they offer school pick up and transportation!!

Fairburn is hosting a laid back morning to meet local officers over coffee. So if you’ve ever had a question for the folks patrolling your neighborhood, this is your chance.

College Park Citywide Festival (Oct 10)

College Park’s 10th annual festival is FREE and has a little of everything. Think food, music, arts and crafts, games, cars, a fire and EMS expo, and carnival rides.

Hapeville is screening Five Nights at Freddy’s in the park. Just know the movie is rated PG-13, so it’s better for older kids and teens. Bring blankets!!

Overall, October around South Fulton has something for every age and every budget. Most of these events are free, and a lot of them land on the same weekends. So pick your Saturday, grab the kids (or leave them with grandma), and go support the community.
