About

The Urban Farming Institute of Boston operates a Black-led urban farm at Fowler Clark Epstein Farm, 487 Norfolk St in Mattapan, Massachusetts. The farm grows certified naturally grown produce, including leafy greens, squash, and sweet potatoes. In addition to growing food, the organization runs a seasonal farm stand where neighbors can buy directly from the farm. For example, shoppers can find fresh, chemical-free vegetables in season without traveling far from the Mattapan neighborhood. As a result, the farm stand helps close a gap in fresh food access for the surrounding community. Meanwhile, the Institute accepts EBT, SNAP, WIC, and Farmers Market Coupons, so many households can shop there regardless of income.
