I just added four platforms to The Hustle Hub, and this batch is a fun mix!! If you want lesser known side hustle apps beyond DoorDash and Poshmark, here’s the short answer:
- HERide: rideshare driving for women in Atlanta and Athens
- Payhip: a free store for digital products
- Ballwool: a marketplace for handmade and digital goods
- AudioWallet: a brand new site for selling personalized voice notes
They all work differently. So I broke down how each one pays, what it costs, who can join, and the honest drawbacks. I haven’t earned money on any of these myself yet. Everything here comes from each platform’s own published details as of October 2026.
Affiliate disclosure: This post contains affiliate links, including a referral link for AudioWallet and an ad for Udemy. If you join or buy through them, Storm’s Mama may earn a commission at no extra cost to you.

HERide: Rideshare Driving for Women in Atlanta and Athens
HERide is a rideshare company built for women, and it’s based right here in Atlanta. A Black woman started it in 2019. Every driver and every rider on the app is a woman.
If you live in South Fulton like me, this one is close to home. HERide was the third rideshare company cleared for pickups at Hartsfield-Jackson, after Uber and Lyft.
How HERide Pays Drivers
Drivers keep 80% of every fare, and tips are 100% theirs. HERide pays by direct deposit twice a week, every Monday and Wednesday. You also see the fare before you accept a ride. HERide says Uber and Lyft driver shares can drop as low as 50%, so that 80% is a big part of the pitch.
Who Can Drive for HERide
According to HERide, you need to:
- Be at least 21 years old
- Have a Georgia driver’s license
- Drive an insured 4-door car, 2015 or newer
- Pass a background check, which HERide pays for (usually 2 to 5 business days)
- Have a phone with iOS 15+ or Android 10+
- Be a woman driver
After that, you bring your car to their Atlanta office for a quick check-up. HERide says it takes about 30 minutes.
Things to Know Before You Start
HERide is much smaller than Uber and Lyft. So ride requests may come in slower, especially at first. The good news is HERide allows you to drive for Uber or Lyft at the same time, and they say a lot of drivers do.
Some rider reviews in the App Store also mention booking glitches. Keep your expectations realistic. Also budget for gas, maintenance, and insurance. Airport pickups need an extra permit, but HERide says it helps you get one.
Best for: Women in metro Atlanta or Athens who already like driving and want a women-only option.

Payhip: Sell Digital Products With No Monthly Fee
Payhip is a London-based platform for selling ebooks, printables, templates, courses, memberships, and coaching. It even handles physical products. It isn’t new. But plenty of side hustlers still haven’t heard of it, and the free plan is great for beginners.
I sell my own PDF guides through Buy Me a Coffee, so I pay close attention to fees. I like how simple Payhip keeps it.
Payhip Fees, Explained
Payhip has three plans, and every plan includes every feature:
- Free Forever: $0 a month plus a 5% transaction fee
- Plus: $29 a month plus a 2% transaction fee
- Pro: $99 a month with no Payhip transaction fee
Stripe or PayPal processing fees apply on top of every plan. For example, a $10 sale on the free plan leaves you about $8.91 after Payhip’s 50 cents and a standard U.S. Stripe fee of 59 cents. Processing rates vary by country and card type.
Here’s the math most reviews skip. Plus only saves you money once you sell more than about $967 a month. Pro only beats Plus once you pass $3,500 a month. So if you’re just starting, stay on the free plan.
Payhip also says it collects and pays digital EU/UK VAT and US/Canadian sales tax for you. That’s a real time saver if you sell to buyers overseas.
Who Payhip Is Best For
Payhip works best for people who already have a product idea or a small audience. It gives you the store and the checkout. But you still bring most of the buyers through social media, email, or your blog.
Best for: Creators selling printables, ebooks, templates, or courses who don’t want a monthly bill.
See Payhip in The Hustle Hub or check the official Payhip pricing page.
Want to learn how to make your first digital product before you open a store?? Udemy has classes on things like Canva, ebook writing, and course creation.
Ballwool: A Social Marketplace for Handmade and Digital Goods
Ballwool mixes a social network with a marketplace. Buyers follow shops, chat with sellers, and buy right inside the app. Sellers can list physical products or digital downloads. Ballwool says it has more than 5,000 active shops and 100,000 orders delivered. Those are the company’s own numbers.
Ballwool Fees and Payouts
There are no monthly or setup fees. Instead, Ballwool takes a 9% platform fee on each sale, plus payment processing.
The interesting part is the Share & Save program. When a buyer purchases through your personal link, your platform fee drops to just 1%. So a $20 item costs you $1.80 in platform fees through the marketplace, but only 20 cents through your own link.
Ballwool also offers optional offsite ads. You pay a 15% success fee only if someone buys within 30 days of clicking your ad.
You get paid through Stripe or Payoneer. Stripe payouts process automatically once an order is complete. With Payoneer, you request payouts from your seller account.
Who Ballwool Fits
Ballwool makes the most sense if you already make something people love. It’s an extra sales channel, not a replacement for Etsy or your own site. Plus, the Share & Save discount rewards people who can send their own followers to the shop.
Keep in mind that 9% is higher than Payhip’s 5% free plan fee. You also handle shipping for any physical products.
Best for: Makers and digital designers who want one more place to sell and have a following to share their link with.
See Ballwool in The Hustle Hub or browse more selling and reselling apps.
AudioWallet: Get Paid for Personalized Voice Notes
AudioWallet is the newest platform on this list. It launched at the end of August 2026, and the idea is simple. You upload one voice sample and set your price. Then buyers order custom voice notes from you, like good morning messages, birthday wishes, or a shout out.
How AudioWallet Pays
Signup is free. You keep 80% of each standard order, and AudioWallet keeps 20%. Payouts go through Stripe, so you need to connect a Stripe account before you take orders. On a $10 voice note, that’s $8 to you before any processing fees.
One detail to know: when a buyer joins through an affiliate link, the split changes to 50% for you, 30% for the affiliate, and 20% for AudioWallet.
What I’d Check Before Signing Up
Honestly, AudioWallet is so new that there’s very little track record yet. Its public pages also don’t say which countries creators can join from, the minimum age, or how long payouts take. So I’d email support at audiowallet@outlook.com and confirm those details first.
Also, decide ahead of time what kinds of messages you will and won’t record. And only upload a voice sample you’re comfortable having online.
Best for: People with a warm, clear voice, or podcasters and streamers who want to test a low-risk extra income stream.
See the AudioWallet listing or browse more voiceover and audiobook gigs.
How to Pick the Right One for You
Start with what you already have:
- A car, and you’re a woman in metro Atlanta or Athens: try HERide.
- A digital product idea, like a planner or a guide: start with Payhip.
- Handmade goods and a social following: test Ballwool.
- A great voice and a little curiosity: experiment with AudioWallet.
Whichever you choose, remember that none of these apps guarantee income. Read the fee page first and start small. Then track what you earn and spend from day one, because side hustle income is taxable.
Final Thoughts
Overall, these four apps cover a lot of ground: driving, digital products, handmade goods, and your own voice. HERide and Payhip have the longest track records. Ballwool and AudioWallet are smaller bets, so test them slowly. When you’re ready for your next idea, The Hustle Hub has plenty more!!
