The Highest Rated Restaurants in South Fulton (I Did the Research So You Don’t Have To)

If you live in or around South Fulton, you already know the food scene here is no joke. I pulled together some of the highest rated spots in the area so you don’t have to go digging. From wood-smoked BBQ to upscale global comfort food, here’s what people are saying about the restaurants our community keeps going back to.

1. TrucKINGS BBQ | Fairburn

216 NW Broad St, Fairburn, GA | Wed-Sat 11am-8pm Rating: 4.8 stars

I’ve personally been to TrucKINGS and the food is exactly as good as the reviews say. The rib tips are tender, the brisket is smoky and well-seasoned, and the sides actually hold their own, which is not always the case at BBQ spots. The black-pepper mac and cheese is a standout, and the freshly squeezed specialty lemonades (Mango Peach and Blue Raspberry) are worth ordering every time. The service is friendly, portions are generous, and everything tastes like it was made with care. Takeout only, and it sells out, so go early or order ahead online.

2. Gocha’s Breakfast Bar | South Fulton (Cascade Area)

3695 Cascade Rd, Atlanta, GA | Daily 9am-3pm Rating: 4.4+ stars

I haven’t been here personally, but the reviews speak for themselves. Owned by celebrity hairstylist turned restaurateur Gocha Hawkins, this upscale brunch spot has been a Cascade staple since 2019. People rave about the jalapeno shrimp and grit cakes, the chicken and waffles, and the Cajun-Creole lump crab fish and grits plate. Reviewers consistently describe it as inventive, fresh, and genuinely worth the trip. The menu is Southern-style with pescatarian and vegan-friendly options. Regulars say to arrive right when it opens or expect a wait.

3. Freshest Salad Bar | South Fulton (Campbellton Road)

5829 Campbellton Rd, Atlanta, GA | Mon-Fri 9am-4pm Rating: 4.6 stars

Haven’t tried this one yet, but the community has spoken. It’s a build-your-own concept with over 40 fresh toppings and proteins cooked to order, including wild-caught salmon, jerk chicken, steak, shrimp, and lamb. Ingredients come from local farms and are chopped fresh daily. Reviewers love the value, the quality of the proteins, and the house-made lemonade. It’s been named a neighborhood favorite across 21+ South Fulton communities on Nextdoor, which says a lot.

4. The Mustard Seed BBQ | Fairburn

6000 Lynmark Way, Fairburn, GA | Mon, Wed-Sat 11am-8pm | Sun 12pm-8pm Rating: 4.5 stars

Another one on my list to try. The Mustard Seed has been around since 2005 and has a strong reputation for doing real pit barbecue the right way. The meat is hand-picked fresh daily and cooked to order. Reviewers rave about the smoke flavor, the balance of sweet and savory, and the rib tips in particular. One reviewer said it best: “It’s a bit of a ways from my house, but it’s so good that I will go to Fairburn.” That kind of loyalty says everything.

5. Mack Vegan | Union City

5851 Buffington Rd, Union City, GA | Mon-Thu 11am-9pm | Fri-Sat 11am-10pm Rating: 4.6 stars

I haven’t made it here yet but it’s been on my radar. Mack Vegan is a plant-based restaurant and hookah lounge with serious community love behind it. The menu leans Caribbean comfort food with dishes like orange chicken tofu, jerk tofu, spinach patties, and vegan fish. Reviewers say the portions are generous, the flavors are bold, and the vibe is welcoming whether you’re a longtime vegan or just curious. The smoothies get their own shoutouts in multiple reviews.

6. Oreatha’s At The Point | East Point (Cascade Heights)

2287 Cascade Rd, Atlanta, GA | Sun 11am-5pm | Wed-Fri 5pm-10pm | Sat 2:30pm-10pm Rating: 4.5 stars

This one is on every list I came across and I still haven’t made it there. Oreatha’s is a global comfort food restaurant from celebrated chef Deborah VanTrece, named after her mother. The concept is elevated dishes inspired by home cooking from cultures around the world. Reviewers describe the food as inventive and deeply satisfying, the service as exceptional, and the space as warm and beautifully designed. Multiple people called it a hidden gem they’d drive across town for. It’s upscale casual with a seasonal menu, so the experience changes throughout the year.

7. St. James Live! | South Fulton (Camp Creek Area)

3220 Butner Rd SW, Atlanta, GA | Thu-Sun (select Wednesdays)

St. James Live is an experience as much as a restaurant. It’s a live jazz venue tucked off Camp Creek Parkway pairing small plates and cocktails with live performances. Reviewers say the vibe is intimate, every seat feels close to the stage, and it’s become a go-to for date nights, birthdays, and anniversaries on the Southside. The menu features wings, signature salads, and craft cocktails. Tickets are required for shows and online booking is recommended.

All of these spots are listed in the South Fulton Business Directory. If you know a great local restaurant that deserves a spot on this list, submit it so more neighbors can find it!
